Development Committee
Chair: Rence Callahan, WRCP Architects
The Development Committee is comprised of the DWSP Board of Directors Chairman, DWSP President and Vice President, Infrastructure Committee Chairman, and members of both the City and County staff. The primary focus of the Committee is to oversee the implementation of the Downtown Plan and to find ways to overcome any barriers to completion of the Plan. Meets monthly.
Subcommittees include: Retail Taskforce, Form Based Code
Finance Committee
Chair: Marc Schaeffer, Truliant Federal Credit Union
The Finance Committee is chaired by the Treasurer of the Partnership and meets on an as-needed basis to review all financial statements relative to the Partnership's operations. The Finance Committee, along with the President of the Partnership, is ultimately responsible for managing the Partnership's annual budget.
Infrastructure Committee
Chair: Steve Cavanaugh, Cavanaugh & Associates
The Infrastructure Subcommittee is responsible for identifying and removing physical barriers that impact the implementation of the Downtown Plan, as well as identifying opportunities to improve and enhance the infrastructure currently existing downtown. Meets monthly.
Subcommittees include: Trailblazer Signs, Parking Taskforce, Business 40 & Transportation Linkages, and Interim Rubber Tire Trolley System.
Marketing Task Force
Chair: Steve Strawsburg, Reynolds American
The mission of the Marketing Task Force is to attract residents and visitors to downtown in order to build commercial and community use of the area through special events, retail and business activities (as a facilitator), and image enhancement. The Task Force assists the Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership in communicating the progress of the Downtown Plan for the benefit of the entire community.
Personnel Committee
Chair: Bob Leak, Winston-Salem Business, Inc.
The Personnel Committee is responsible for reviewing the Partnership's Policies, Procedures, and Compensation Packages. The Personnel Committee meets on an as-needed basis.
Public Safety Network
Chair: Gena Knighten, Chelsee's Coffee Shop & More
The Public Safety Network is dedicated to promoting a safe environment in the center city by creating a communication network that will assist both the Winston-Salem Police Department and the downtown community. The open meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month for the purpose of reviewing the previous month's police call report and sharing information that will assist both businesses, residents and visitors. The Network serves as a review resource for City Government on safety-related ordinances and develops initiatives to raise awareness of both safety and quality of life issues impacting downtown. Meets monthly.
Real Estate Roundtable
Chair: Walt Kinsey, Allied Commercial Properties
The Real Estate Roundtable is comprised primarily of commercial realtors and property managers. The Roundtable reviews proposed development plans for the center city, assists the Partnership in maintaining both a commercial and residential database, and works on ways to market available downtown properties to potential business owners. Meets monthly.
Restaurant and Entertainment Roundtable
Chair:
The Restaurant Roundtable is comprised of downtown restaurant/entertainment owners and managers who meet periodically to discuss strategies for raising awareness of dining and entertainment venues in downtown and to propose ways to increase business. Meets monthly.
