 EIGHT THIRTY SIX OAK is the name for the former Tobacco Square property

 that will be converted to 30 for-sale residential condominiums.  The project will

 offer one and two bedroom units ranging from 750 s.f. to 1,350 s.f. in a price

 range of $159,000 to $329,000.  Tobacco Square is at the corner of 10th and

 Oak streets on approximately 3 acres.  The project will be marketed by

 Weichert Realtors-RidgeTop.  The $7 million project is slated for completion

 in the fall of 2007. A sales office has been opened in the building and a

 THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING  of the Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership will be held on February 28 at 8 a.m.

 in the Grand Pavilion of the Embassy Suites.  The Downtown Excellence Awards will be presented along with a look ahead at projects

 and initiatives of the Partnership for 2007.

 

 THE EVERGREEN GARDEN CLUB, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary, has donated a granite sculpture to the city that has been

 installed at the corner of Fourth and Main streets.  The monument shows a young black man holding an older white man and reads: “We

 acknowledge the countless acts of selflessness that occur daily in Winston-Salem.”  The club raised $18,000 for the project.

 

 FILMS ON FOURTH will host two independent movies downtown this month.  "This Film Is Not Yet Rated" and "Fur: An Imaginary

 Portrait of Diane Arbus" will be shown at the Stevens Center at 405 West Fourth Street on Friday, January 12, and Saturday, January 13.

 THE 27TH ANNUAL MARTIN L. KING NOON HOUR COMMEMORATION will be held at the M. C. Benton Convention Center on Monday,

 January 15, at 12:00 noon. The commemoration, founded and organized by Mutter D. Evans, is the longest on-going local observance. It

 is partially sponsored by the Winston-Salem Human Relations Department and the Winston-Salem NAACP. The event is open to the

 public at no charge.   

  

 THE LITTLE THEATRE will present "Frozen" at the Werehouse (211 East Third Street) on Friday, January 12, at 7:30 PM.  The play

 draws together a murderer, a victim's mother, and a psychologist as they embark on a compelling journey to explore the capacity for
